Regulations

Licenses/ Certificates Needed

  • Part 107
  • Part 137 Waiver
  • 11F Aerial Applicators
  • Registered Drone with FAA
  • Commercial Applicators License, With IDALS

*If you are applying on only your owned or rented ground you will only need your private applicators license not a commercial, I would still recommend getting your commercial if you have any thoughts of spraying for others as you will need it in order to apply for others.*

Application Rules

Here are a few points to remember when flying a Drone for applications.

  • Bee Rule- Pesticide Applicators
    • Be sure to check your area for bees, If with in radius your spray hours are 6PM-8AM, No spraying during day.

  • Other Air Craft
    • Your are still a UAS in the air, yield the right of way at all times to manned aircraft.
  • Multi Drone/ Swarm Flying
    • Verify that your Part 137 exemption includes a swarm exemption as well, it should be standard with the exemption.
  • Conditional Rules
    • All rules still apply to drone applications as ground applications
    • Wind, humidity, temps all effect drift, ensure conditions are fit for applications.
